Introduction To Safeguarding

Pastor Daphline Achumba, Safeguarding Co-ordinator
The term Safeguarding means protecting all children and young people under 18 years of age from abuse or neglect. we as a church do take all reasonable measures to ensure that the risks of harm to the individual’s welfare are minimised. Also where there are concerns about children and young people’s welfare, we take all appropriate actions to address those concerns.
We are committed to following government and CCPAS (The Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Service) guidelines on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and good working practices, including safe recruitment of workers.
As churches we seek to prevent abuse by ensuring that the wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults that we work with is foremost in everyone’s mind. We have the right policies and practices in place that sends a clear message to everyone – staff, volunteers, parents and those in our care that we are committed to keeping children and vulnerable adults safe.

Important Safeguarding Issues
If there is any allegation of abuse including downloading child abuse images made against a volunteer or employee in our church or clubs please immediately notify Daphline Achumba our Safeguarding Co-ordinator.
If the allegation is made regarding the time a worker was involved in activity with our church a decision will be made at Elim International Centre as to whether the insurance company need to be notified at that point. If the allegation is made about an incident outside of our church the worker will need to be suspended while the police investigate the allegation.
Known sex offenders – Please notify Daphline Achumba if you are aware of any known sex offenders attending our church or Clubs.
